Volunteering at Safe Haven Farm Sanctuary

An important announcement from

Co-founders Ellen and Bill Crain

As part of our caring and compassionate community, we want you, as well as our staff, to stay healthy.  As long as the infection rate with COVID-19 remains low and the CDC and state and local guidelines do not become more stringent, we are pleased to accept volunteers who are fully vaccinated.  Please complete the volunteer form.  See link below.

We also need people who have knowledge of social media analytics and effective use of social media ads/promotions.

Ongoing Projects

Safe Haven is often in need of volunteers to help with ongoing maintenance such as: machine maintenance, carpentry, electrical, painting and landscaping, etc. These tasks are often only on an as-needed basis. If you have an interest in volunteering your skills, please fill out the Volunteer form with your skill-type and we will contact you as the need arises. Or you can take a visit to the Sanctuary to see if there is anything you can spot that needs some attention! You can also help us by building play structures for animals that you can then deliver here!

Age Requirement to Volunteer

For safety reasons, volunteers must be 14 or older. Younger aspiring volunteers please check back when you get a little older!

Special Needs Volunteers

If you have any special needs or a service animal, please specify this on the Volunteer Interest form and we will do our best to find the right volunteer task fit for you.

Volunteer Groups

Please fill out the Volunteer Interest Form and list the type of group as well as how many will attend.  We can then schedule something that fits everyone’s needs. We cannot accommodate groups larger than 8 at one time.

Tips for Volunteers

We suggest wearing clothing and boots or sneakers that you do not mind getting dirty or damaged.  During the winter months please dress appropriately for outdoor work including bringing gloves and wearing plenty of layers to keep you warm. If you plan to stay for more than a few hours we suggest bringing a vegan lunch to enjoy while here.  We have a refrigerator and microwave available to our volunteers. You may want to check the weather the days you plan to be at the sanctuary and plan accordingly (i.e. raincoat, sunscreen, hat, bug spray).

Thank you for your interest in volunteering at Safe Haven Farm Sanctuary!  Please fill out the Volunteer Interest Form with your chosen areas of interest.  We will then contact you and schedule a visit so that we can meet you, introduce you to our farm family and give you the background and history of our farm sanctuary.  If you have any questions, you can contact us at 845-724-5138.
