About the Animals

Serve the Animals Summit

In August of 2023, Co-founder Bill Crain participated in the Serve the Animals Summit. The subject of the summit was strategies for creating a sanctuary, animal rescue and rehabilitation. Bill was a guest speaker and his focus was on abandoned ducklings, chicks and roosters. In this video, Bill shares his insight and perspective on how these baby animals are affected by being taken from their mothers for egg hatching projects and to be sold at stores.

A Cow & Her Growing Calf

Cole is growing up so fast! Here’s a quick update on this precious calf and his relationship with his mom. In addition, you’ll see a true friendship that has developed between Flo and Ebb, another rescued cow resident at Safe Haven. We hope you enjoy these sweet moments of three rescues enjoying a peaceful life as a family at the Safe Haven.

A Calf is Born

Safe Haven experienced a huge surprise on June 23rd 2022 when one of our rescued cows, Flo, gave birth to a beautiful, bouncing baby boy! Flo was rescued from a dairy farm where she sustained a serious foot injury and impregnation would be a physical challenge. She joined our family in February and, unbeknownst to us, she was pregnant!  She is now an ambassador for all cows that never get the opportunity to raise their babies. At Safe Haven, Flo is experiencing motherhood as it should be. She is free to nurture her baby and surround him with the motherly love and attention he deserves.
