Safe Haven’s rescues enjoying their freedom at our sanctuary.

This is what freedom looks like. At our sanctuary, rescued farmed animals run, play, and finally experience the peaceful life they always deserved. Watch them enjoy life on their own terms.

Pheasants Break Free from Gun Club

A nearby gun club releases boxed birds including ducks, partridges, and pheasants with only one purpose – to shoot them! Fortunately, a few manage to escape and find their way to the road near the pond. Co-founder Bill Crain visits daily to feed the birds and discovered a pair of pheasants on a freezing winter day. While pheasants are known for their loud honking, Bill noticed the male makes a soft gentle sound. He felt a connection with the pheasants, who seem to show a sense of calmness around him and this gentle sound feels like an expression of contentment.

Serve the Animals Summit

In August of 2023, Co-founder Bill Crain participated in the Serve the Animals Summit. The subject of the summit was strategies for creating a sanctuary, animal rescue and rehabilitation. Bill was a guest speaker and his focus was on abandoned ducklings, chicks and roosters. In this video, Bill shares his insight and perspective on how these baby animals are affected by being taken from their mothers for egg hatching projects and to be sold at stores.
